ISLAMABAD: A seven-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk was hearing the Prime Minister Gilani contempt case today where Justice Nasir rejected the plea against Attorney General (AG) Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq as prosecutor of the prime minister, Geo News reported.

The decision was given before the proceedings of the contempt case.

During his arguments, petitioner Shahid Orakzai said that the AG is under the prime minister and that is why he cannot act as his prosecutor.

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk remarked that the prime minister did not object to his own trial.

Justice Asif Khosa remarked that the court reserves the right to change the prosecutor in case he is unable to carry out his tasks properly.

Later, the apex court dismissed the plea but maintained the office objections.
