Johnny Depp plays vampire in "Dark Shadows"

HOLLYWOOD: The trailer for Dark Shadows, in which director Tim Burton and the incomparable Johnny Depp reunite, has been released, and looks like a film only they could make.

The May 11 film, which is loosely based on the 1960s primetime vampire soap opera (seriously), follows a very supernatural family helmed by Depp’s Barnabas Collins.

The beginning of the trailer is pure gothic horror: an 18th century romance, a jealous witch, a freshly-born vampire crying blood, a ghost whispering “he’s coming.”

But they clearly don't take the source material too seriously after that. As you can see in the trailer below, there are a good number of laughs.
