LAHORE: Cement trade between Pakistan and India has resumed as businessmen from the neighbouring country placed big orders with Pakistani cement companies days after inauguration of the new trade terminal at Wahga border.
According to Finance Ministry sources, export of cement through ground route via Wahga border has been permitted and trucks would begin transporting cement across the border in the next few days.
In the wake of the opening of the new trade terminal at Wahga border, Indian traders have placed import orders with the Pakistani companies for cement packed in sacks and also for unpacked variety, sources added.
Pakistan produces cement in surplus, therefore, its export to India will help resuscitate the dormant cement plants in Pakistan.
