India welcomes Army Chief Kayani’s Siachen statement

NEW DELHI: India has welcomed statements made by Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani regarding Siachen.

Speaking to the media in Skardu following his visit to the site of the avalanche in Gayari, COAS Kayani had called for discussing all issues including Siachen with India.

According to Indian television reports, the country’s State Minister for Defence MM Pallam Raju was glad to know that Pakistan was aware of the difficulties associated with maintaining soldiers in Siachen.

Prior to Kayani’s remarks on Siachen, PML-N president Nawaz Sharif had also called upon India and Pakistan to remove their troops from the region.
