ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister is now a convict who should resign from his position on moral ground, said Opposition Leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday following the PM's conviction in contempt case by the Supreme Court.
Talking to media persons, Chaudhry Nisar said there was a consensus among the opposition parties in regard to its demand that the PM should resign from his position.
He said there was no example in the history of the way the government had ridiculed the Supreme Court's rulings over the course of past four years.
Chaudhry Nisar said after the conviction, the Prime Minister had lost the eligibility to even walk into the National Assembly as an MNA.
"What makes them claim they face the courts?' he questioned, adding, when Ms Benazir Bhutto was convicted, she absconded to another country for 8 years.
He said leaders in other parts of the world step down even on an allegation.
The Opposition leader said in the wake of the SC verdict, his party would show reaction both inside and outside the Parliament.
