RAWALPINDI: The search and rescue operation at the Gayari sector in Siachen continues.

According to an ISPR press release, the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) team has taken readings at 26 different points out of which eight have been identified for further probe.

Work at the identified points is in progress while a 300 feet long course has been hauled over the avalanche for the restoration of the channel by employing dozers.

139 soldiers and civilians were buried underneath the avalanche which took place on April 7. Rescuers have been dealing with harsh weather conditions during the operation and have been aided by foreign teams.
