KARACHI: Karachi Police Chief Akhtar Gorchani said on Saturday that miscreants in Lyari were being supported by anti-state elements and that no time frame for the completion of operation in the area could be given at this stage.

The Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) while talking to Geo News here said the miscreants were using highly modern weapons which has made the police's job even more difficult but not impossible.

He said positive feedback was coming in from the people on the ongoing operation, which could be stretched to other parts of the city.

"The blood of the police personnel will not go to waste," he asserted, vowing to ultimately eliminate the criminals operating in Lyari.

He said no additional police enforcement was required in Lyari. However, he described it as a difficult area for a cleanup operation where criminals belonging to gang mafias take full advantage of the narrow alleys.
