Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif raises minimum wage to Rs9000 in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced on Labour Day that minimum wage in the province would be Rs9,000.

Sharif’s announcement followed that of Prime Minister Gilani who had earlier on Tuesday raised the minimum wage from Rs7,000 to Rs8,000.

During his address at a function marking May 1, Shahbaz Shairf said Punjab was being treated liked a step-mother.

Sharif added labourers could not earn a wage if there was no electricity of gas in the province.
