ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of a petition seeking to declare Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani ineligible terming it premature, Geo News reported.

Petitioner G A Chaudhry Advocate pleaded before the court that the prime minister stands disqualified after the conviction in a contempt of court case by the Supreme Court and be refrained from performing official duties.

Justice Shaukat Sissiqui heard the case. He remarked that Article 63 is about the disqualification of member parliament not of the prime minister and the detailed SC verdict is not available yet.

The court then directed the petitioner to withdraw the plea, which he did.
