ISLAMABAD: Despite continued protest by the opposition PML-N, National Assembly continued routine business and six private member bills were presented to the House on Wednesday.
The bills allowed had mostly come from the treasury members, as the opposition members were busy in protest despite that their business was on the agenda.
These bills included 'the Works of Defense (amendment) Bill 2012'; 'the Higher Education Commission (amendment) Bill 2012,; 'the Disabled Persons Employment and Rehabilitation Bill 2012,; 'the
Representation of People (amendment) Bill 2012'; 'the Criminal Law
(amendment) Bill 2012 and 'the Constitution (amendment) Bill 2012.
These bills were moved by MNAs Khurram Jehangir Wattoo, Ms Yasmeen Rehman, Miss Kishwar Zehra (two bills), Sajid Ahmed and his
party colleagues.
Other members Ms Tasneem Siddiqui, Naseer Bhutta, Qudsia Arshad and colleagues did not move their bills as they were busy in protest within the House.
Agenda items of MNA Naseem Akhter Chaudhry were deferred on request of the treasury members as she was not present in the House.
Two motions for amendment in rules of procedure and five resolution were also dropped as members did not move to the House.
However, a resolution to increase the salaries of government employees was accepted for discussion.
Three motions of the opposition were also dropped as these related to opposition members and none of them moved these motions to the House.
Both the Calling Attention notices were also deferred for another day while one motion and one bill were deferred on request of the members. (APP)
