NEPRA drops another tariff bomb

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Thursday announced that the hike in power tariff from October 2011-January 2012 will be adjusted in the bills to be issued for the months from June to August 2012, Geo News reported.

A notification in this regard has been issued.

The announced raise in the tariff is for the months of October, November, December 2011, and January 2012, which would be collected by the power companies in the utility bills from June to August 2012.

According to notification, the hike for October is Rs2.13 per unit, November Rs1.17, December Rs0.86, and for January 2012 the hike is 1.87 per unit.

The power companies have also been notified as well.

Lifeline consumers are exempt from this adjustment.

It is pertinent to mention that the notification is applicable for all the power companies except Karachi Electric Supply Company.
