LAHORE: Defence Minister, Ahmad Mukhtar Sunday said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stood firm by the prime minister on the contempt of court issue and an appeal would be filed after the announcement of the detailed judgment, Geo News reported.

Talking to the media, Ahmad Mukhtar said that the prime minister has the right to appeal and the line of action would be finalized after the announcement of the detail judgment by the Supreme Court.

He further said that the party was all along with the PM and he hasn’t been asked to tender resignation.

Replying to a question, he said that the democratic system should continue and there shouldn’t be any deadlock in it.

Responding to another question, he said that we had asked the U.S. that drone attacks should be conducted jointly, but the U.S. did not agree.

Ahmad Mukhtar said that if the Nato containers were not given passage, it would be tantamount to a violation of international laws.

Regarding Siachen, he said that it was difficult to resolve the Siachen issue at this point in time.
