ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has informed the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) that there is no information regarding the presence of Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri in Pakistan.
Khar said that if there was any information regarding his presence in Pakistan it should be shared. The Foreign Minister was responding to statements made by US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton who in Kolkata had said that the US believed al-Zawahiri was in Pakistan.
“Al-Qaeda is a mutual enemy of Pakistan and the US,” Khar said.
Khar briefed the PCNS on ongoing talks with the US in light of the parliamentary recommendations. She said that talks at this point could not be termed a failure.
The Foreign Minister added that US officials had been told that drone attacks violate Pakistan’s sovereignty.
