Electricity tariff increased by Rs1.25 per unit

ISLAMABAD: The Water and Power Ministry has increased the electricity tariff by Rs1.25 per unit with immediate effect.

A notification issued here stated that the increase will be applicable across the country including Karachi. The tariff has been increased to Rs8.83 and the government is still paying a subsidy of Rs3.08.

With the current hike in power tariff, the government will get Rs90 billion additional revenue per year.

Lifeline consumers will be excluded from this increase.
