KARACHI: Nameless triggermen continued to push their deadly agenda ahead in the various areas of metropolis on Saturday night as well but with somewhat less success as they left six people badly injured including a sub-inspector of police, Geo News reported.

Police say unidentified gunslingers wounded a special branch police officer in Orangi Town, three persons in Eisa Nagri, and a man in Baldia Town.

Furthermore, the robbers opened fire at a youth when he tried to play hero in the height of a heist in Zamzama Park area of Boat Basin. Reportedly, the boy survived the gunshot and was under treatment in the hospital.

Earlier four people were murdered separately in the city on Saturday, a day that brought a slight let-up in the killing spree in the metropolitan that has terrorized citizens for nearly a week with a death toll of above 40.

A construction contractor was shot dead near a restaurant on the Shaheed-e-Millat Road in Ferozabad.

The victim, identified as 35-year-old Salman, was rushed to a private hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

“The police found empty casings of a 30-bore pistol from the crime scene,” Ferozabad Station House Officer Aijaz Ali Khwaja told The News.

“The victim suffered three bullet wounds on different parts of his body,” he added.

The body has been shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy.

Police investigators said a man riding a motorcycle shot Salman outside his house.

They added that they are trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder that could be linked to extortion or personal enmity. Separately, a man was gunned down in the wee hours of the day at the Mirza Adam Khan Road near Nawaz Manzil, within the Kalakot police jurisdiction.

The police said the victim, identified as Babar, was a labourer and heading to work when two men on a motorcycle opened fire on him.

Babar suffered seven bullet wounds on different parts of his body. The police said they found empty pistol shells at the crime scene and sent them to their laboratory. The body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy.

Police sleuths believe that the murder is one of the ongoing target killings in the city, but said they will investigate into other angles of case as well including personal enmity.

In another incident, a man was murdered at the Mauripur Road in the morning.

The police said the victim was shot in the head at point-blank range and they did not find an identification card that could help ascertain the identity of the victim. However, they added, he appeared to be a Baloch of Iranian descent.
