LAHORE: The electricity crisis continues to plague Pakistan as the shortfall currently stands at 7,500 MW. In several cities of Punjab, residents were without electricity overnight and are experiencing loadshedding of 14 to 20 hours.

According to PEPCO, IPPs have not been supplied oil and gas by the Ministry of Water and Power which is why their production has decreased.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has repeatedly stated that the power crisis is the top priority for his government, while President Asif Ali Zardari during an emergency meeting had directed Naveed Qamar the Minster for Water and Power to take immediate action.
