CAIRO: Egyptian ex-president Hosni Mubarak, sentenced Saturday to life in prison for involvement in the killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising, will appeal the sentence, a defence lawyer told.
"We will appeal. The ruling is full of legal flaws from every angle," said Yasser Bahr, a senior member of Mubarak's defence team.
Asked if Mubarak was likely to win the appeal, Bahr said: "We will win, one million percent."
On the other hand, protesters angered at the outcome of the trial against Hosni Mubarak, his sons and high-level security officials clashed with police outside the building where the verdicts were read.
Protesters threw rocks at riot police standing guard outside the building and the security forces gave chase, witnesses said.
