KARACHI: MQM Co-ordination Committee says if criminal elements and extortionists were not controlled and their terrorism continued unstoppably in Karachi, "then patience of MQM workers, business persons and general public might give way."

In a statement Tuesday Committee said criminal elements, extortionists, terrorists had been given license to kill and plunder in Karachi and leaving people at their mercy appeared to be a sinister conspiracy.

"Increasing crimes of extortions, kidnapping for ransom, robberies were being done in city with tacit support of certain elements. The country's security had been compromised by paralyzing Karachi."

It said manner and ferocity with which crimes are being done is proof enough that operation against criminal elements was a farce. 'They still enjoyed full support of the elements conspiring to subvert peace.'

It warned criminals, terrorists not to get intoxicated by support from such elements conspiring. 'If criminal activities continued unabated, people would stop listening to appeals for restraint from MQM.' It appealed to its workers and people to remain calm and peaceful. Committee demanded of the government to restrain criminals and anti-social elements.
