Karachi target killing toll hits 11 in 24 hours

KARACHI: A total of 11 people including a woman have been killed in separate incidents of violence as targeted attacks continued in the provincial capital on Monday, Geo News reported.

According to details, one person was killed while seven others were injured including a woman when unknown armed assailants opened fire on an Awami National Party's (ANP) camp set up in Safoora Goth to protest the killing of one of its leaders Liaquat Bangash.

The injured woman later succumbed to her wounds and expired at a local hospital.

Two political workers were killed by unknown gunmen in Sherpao Colony of Landhi. Another person was gunned down in the Site area.

Two people including a woman were killed in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.

Meanwhile, three bodies of unidentified men were discovered from an abandoned vehicle in Miran Naka area of Lyari. Police said the deceased were subjected to torture before they were murdered.

Violence has continued in the metropolis for the last several weeks and deteriorated on Sunday after the body of a political worker was discovered in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.

At a news conference Sunday, the acting additional IG police announced he had given shoot on sight orders to his force in a bid to improve the law and order situation in the city.
