8 more die in Karachi, as President's presence fails to stop killings

KARACHI: No let up was witnessed in the incidents of killings in Karachi in spite of the presence of President Asif Ali Zardari in the provincial capital where 8 more people were gunned down on Thursday.

The law and order situation failed to improve in the city where more citizens were killed today while attacks on police personnel also continued.

A shopkeeper at a Mithai shop was gunned down during an attempt of robbery by armed men in Korangi number 6. The people present there managed to overpower the decoits before thrashing them hard and later shooting them dead.

A dead body was recovered from a garbage cabin in Garden area while a man was shot and killed in Surjani Town.

In Sohrab Goth, a woman lost her life after being shot. Firing by an armed motorcyclist killed a youth in Metroville area.

Two policemen sustained bullet wounds when their mobile van came under fire attack near Water Pump, Federal B Area. Two more people were injured by firing in Korangi and Nazimabad areas.
