Five alleged extortionists arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has arrested five alleged extortionists and recovered weapons and a hand grenade from their possession, police said on Saturday.

Addressing the press conference here, SIU Chief SSP Khurram Waris said that four Kalashnikovs, two TT, one 9MM and one hand grenade were recovered from arrested accused Muhammad Yousuf alias Lahoti, Muhammad Shahid, Tahir Mehmood, Shehzad Khaskheli and Abdur Rehman Baloch.

He said that the accused were involved in more than 25 incidents of extortion and robberies in Old City Area.

The accused Shehzad Khaskheli was also involved in injuring Rangers person Muhammad Ali and sub-inspector Muhammad Siddique, the SSP added.
