ISLAMABAD: The memogate commission has given Mansoor Ijaz a final opportunity to appear before the commission on February 9, Geo News reported.
The head of the commission , Justice Qazi Faiz Esa said if the Supreme Court allowed then Mansoor Ijaz’s statement could be recorded in a foreign country.
Esa added that Ijaz’s reservations over security would be addressed by the commission.
Justice Faiz asked if Mansoor Ijaz was not in the mood to come to Pakistan, 'why must we be all excited to go abroad?'
The commission said the government should ensure safe arrival of Mansoor Ijaz besides providing protection to him during his stay in Pakistan and also ensure his safe return.
The memo commission barred the counsels of the parties in memogate scandal from engaging in media talks on matters relating to the memo case.
The commission ordered that the copies of Hussain Haqqani's statement be provided to the Attorney General and applicants.
It ordered the secretary commission to go up to Mansoor Ijaz in the plane upon his arrival and escort him to his residence or when he comes to appear before commission and also on his journey back to his residence.
