KARACHI: Commander Sachal wing of Rangers, Brigadier Waseem Ayub Saturday said that the paramilitary troops have not yet been commissioned to engage in a full-scale operation in Lyari, Geo News reported.
He was commenting on the deployment of Rangers personnel in the restive parts of Lyari.
The Brigadier said only police have been tasked with such an operation.
“Mobilization of Rangers to different parts of Karachi was a routine matter, my men are just snap-checking in Lyari just like they do in other parts of the city, thus there was nothing unusual about it”, the commander said.
He categorically ruled out the notion that Rangers were about to launch an armed assault on Lyari’s belligerent bandits.
“No orders have been come down to us in this regard so far”, said Brig Ayub.
“We will certainly engage if we are ordered to, that’s all.”
