PESHAWAR: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) leader, Jahangir Khan Tareen, on Monday told the inflation-burdened Pakistanis to wait "another six months or a year" for the economic conditions to get better.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of home-based poultry farming plan — Backyard Poultry Programme — here in the city, Tareen said he acknowledged that there was inflation but that people needed to wait more.

The chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan, formally inaugurated theBackyard Poultry Programme. Also present were Food Security & Research Minister Sahibzada Muhammad Mehboob Sultan, Prime Minister Imran Khan's adviser on establishment, Arbab Shehzad, KP Agriculture & Livestock Minister Mohibullah Khan, and other related officials.

Economic stability was being observed in the upper levels, he said, adding that the country's economic conditions would improve in a year and that that would resolve all the issues, including that of inflation. The government understood thechallenges pertaining to higher prices, he noted.

The incumbent PTI government was driven towards lasting economic stability, he said, adding: "Imran Khan is a beacon of hope, [the country's] conditions will improve soon and the country will be able to achieve growth."

Tareen further noted that progress in the agricultural sector would, in turn, help bolster the country's economy. PM Imran's vision is for the common people to move forward, he said, but warned that it was easy to just think in Pakistan but much more challenging to implement ideas.

The other name of progress, he said, was the nation's prosperity.

The PTI leader noted that the kind of popularity the Backyard Poultry Programme — earlier referred to as the "chicken plan" — has received was unlike any other project. People in Islamabad were also demanding the same plan, he added.

Tareen also stated that PM Imran, despite the financial constraints, made the initiative possible since true development could not be achieved without uplifting the society's downtrodden segment. In the next phase, the Backyard Poultry Programme would be extended to the newly-merged tribal districts, including Kurram, Bajaur, and Khyber, he added.

Separately, speaking of the Opposition parties, Tareen said the politicians had united against PM Imran but that the PTI chief would fight all of them.
