Tauqeer Sadiq to be deported to Pakistan in next 24 hours

DUBAI : The former OGRA chairman Tauqeer Sadiq is likely to be brought back to Pakistan in the next 24 hours, Geo News reported Monday.

Sadiq is wanted for involvement in a corruption scam that caused a loss of Rs80 billion to the national exchequer.

According to sources, bookings have been made on two flights to bring Tauqeer Sadiq to Pakistan and he is expected to be brought back later today (Monday) or by Tuesday.

In June, Abu Dhabi’s federal court had issued an order for Tauqeer Sadiq’s deportation to Pakistan. The Abdu Dhabi court had issued the order upon receiving necessary documents from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court had struck down the appointment of Tauqeer Sadiq last year and ordered the NAB to initiate investigation into allegations of corruption against him.
