Sahiwal rape case: Police arrest key accused from Nankana Sahib
SAHIWAL: Following the suspension of negligent police officials and ultimatum by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, police on Wednesday arrested the key accused involved in the gang rape of a girl in Sahiwal, Geo News reported on Wednesday.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Sahiwal Syed Khurram Ali Shah, five accused had been arrested the same day when the incident occurred. The accused involved in molesting the girl included Talib, Pervaiz and Kamran while the other two - Imran and Afzal - were responsible for making the video public.

The five culprits were presented in the anti-terrorism court and were given under the custody of police on ten-day remand.

The sixth and key accused Safdar was arrested today from Nankana Sahib and will be produced before the ATC today to get a remand.

On Tuesday, CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif visited the family of the rape victim in Sahiwal and suspended the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and two Station House Officers (SHO) for being irresponsible and delaying the case for over a month.

He had ordered the police to arrest the alleged criminals within 48 hours and also instructed the police to complete the challan against the culprits in three days. He said that he would request the judges to hear the case on daily basis.

Shahbaz Sharif reprimanded the IG Punjab Police, RPO and other officials and instructed to take prompt action against the criminals and to provide justice to the victim’s family.

He also assured to provide educational assistance to the children of the affected family.
