Electricity shortfall crosses 6000MW

ISLAMABAD: The electricity shortfall in Pakistan has crossed 6000MW, which is being termed a record under the present government.

The power infrastructure continues to struggle with the shortfall resulting in increased load-shedding across the country. According to sources increasing the load on the system is also causing the system to trip repeatedly.

Consumers in Punjab complain they are receiving one hour of electricity for every two hours of load-shedding while 985 VVIP feeders are exempt from any load-shedding.

The increased load on the feeders supplying electricity to the masses forces the system to keep tripping which results in damage to household electronics.

According to PEPCO officials, the gap between supply and demand is too big for them to provide a load-shedding schedule.
