Parliament weak, govt should do conciliatory politics: Gilani
MUZAFFARABAD: Former prime minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani Sunday said he stands by his statement he made in connection with former president Gen (retd) Pervaiz Musharraf.

“Since Parliament is a very weak institution compared to others, government should do conciliatory politics,” he said while addressing an Iftar-dinner reception hosted here by Prime Minister Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed.

A couple of days ago, Gilani had claimed that political leaders had made a deal with the establishment, allowing ex president Gen Musharraf a safe exit on the condition of latter’s quitting his position.

He said the government should engage in talks with PTI Chief Imran Khan, PAT leader Tahirul Qadri and other forces for the sake of continuity of the present democratic process.

Yusuf Raza Gilani said the incumbent government should exhibit open heatedness and desist from indulging in the politics of 90s and 80s.

He said even the present unstable democracy owe its existence to the conciliatory politics of Benazir Bhutto.
