Govt be allowed to serve 5-year term: Sirajul Haq
LAHORE: Amir Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Sirajul Haq Thursday said former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani’s coming to the limelight and letting out a string of disclosures indicate that something fishy was going on.

Talking to mediamen here at Mansoora, headquarter of JI, Haq said the incumbent government should be allowed to complete its 5-year constitutional term so that it can implement its agenda.

“We have witnessed repeated martial laws in Pakistan which are actually responsible for the challenges it faces today,” he observed.

He said all the past governments betrayed the Constitution. All the matters should be dealt with in a democratic and constitutional manner, he added.

Sirajul Haq advocated introduction of a mechanism under which, whenever there is an election, no one should find any room to level allegations of rigging.

He said whatever ordeal the Internally Displaced Persons have to go through these days due to the loadshedding, only they know about its hardship.

However, he said the IDPs who went across the border to Afghanistan should now return to Pakistan.

He said: “God willing, after August 14 we will also see August 15, 16 and so on.”
