Geo News gets copy of JIT preliminary report into Model Town tragedy
LAHORE: The Join Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Model Town Tragedy has failed to identify accused, according to the preliminary report of the JIT, a copy of which is also available with Geo News.

The report said that some witnesses said shots were also fired from Minhajul Quran workers but evidences were not provided to the JIT in this regard.

It said that non-cooperation of heirs and the Minjah was a hurdle in the investigation. According to the report all the accused in the case were on bail and they didn’t appear before the JIT deliberately.

The JIT report said that since the accused had not provided any evidence to prove their innocence declaring them guilty or innocent would be unjust.

It noted that as many as 13 accused of the Minhaj were found innocents while four policemen who allegedly opened fire were in custody.

The report added that SP security, SHO Shadman and two cops were still absent. It noted that former law minister and PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah had presided over a meeting which decided to remove encroachments prior to the Model Town tragedy.
