Man arrested in connection with Imran Farooq murder
LONDON: Scotland Yard arrested a man in connection with the murder of Dr Imran Farooq.

The 30-year-old man was arrested from Waltham Forrest on suspicion of being involved in the murder. The police are at present conducting a search at the Waltham Forrest address.

The arrested man is in custody at a central London police station. This is not the first arrest in connection with the murder and police have previously stated they wish to speak to another two men who are believed to be Pakistan at this time.

The two men wanted in connection with the murder are:

Moshin Ali Syed, 29 a Pakistani national who was in the UK between February 2010 and 16 September 2010.

Muhammad Kashif Khan Kamran, 34 a Pakistani national who was in the UK between early September 2010 and 16 September 2010.

A 52-year-old man arrested in June 2013, on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, at Heathrow after landing at the airport on a flight from Canada, remains on police bail pending further enquiries. He is next due to return to a London police station on a date in late October.
On Thursday 16 September 2010, just before 17:30, Dr Farooq, 50, was on his way home from work when he was attacked outside his home in Green Lane, Edgware, London. He died as a result of multiple stab wounds and blunt trauma to the head.

A five and a half inch-bladed kitchen knife and a house brick used in the attack were recovered at the scene. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) believe that Dr Farooq was under surveillance in the days and weeks prior to his murder.
