PTI agrees to judicial probe but still wants PM gone
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi Saturday said his party is ready to accept the proposed judicial commission for conducting the probe into the allegations of poll rigging but it still believes that a transparent investigation is not possible with Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said in order to get out of the existing political deadlock Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will have to resign. “We have not backed away from our demand of Nawaz Sharif’s resignation,” he added.

He said storming the Parliament is not a part of PTI’s agenda.

Qureshi said his party was keen on solving issues seriously but, unfortunately, the government did not appear so.

“We had no contact with the army nor did we request for a meeting with Army Chief,” he clarified.

He said the negotiations were still being carried out but ruled out the possibility of any breakthrough today.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said PTI was fighting on behalf of the people. “We are not obstinate and this is not Imran Khan’s personal battle,” he added.

He said the incumbent government has lost all its credibility and it now appears weak and helpless.
