Parliament united against mutiny: Ch Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that the entire parliament is united against invasion and mutiny, Geo News reported.

Addressing the joint session of parliament on current political situation today, Chaudhry Nisar said the country is passing through extremely critical times. He said that this parliament is the voice of 180 million people and is united in the face of invasion and mutiny against the state of Pakistan by a few thousand people.

He said that no one should have doubt that the nation is standing with its elected leader.

Nisar stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan had assured his support eight days ago but why took a U-turn now. He said that it is not a protest or sit-in but a mutiny against Pakistan and state institutions.

Mentioning the attack on PTV office, he stated that protesters broke the CCTV cameras and snatched cameras from the staff during storming the PTV building and misbehaved with a lady staffer, snatching her cell phone and valuables.

“They are not revolutionaries, they are intruders and terrorists,” he said, adding that the protestors are trained terrorists who are armed with axes, wooden batons, nails, hammers, cutters and slinging.

He said over 100 policemen have been injured in clash with the protestors who he said would be identified through CCTV footage.

Regarding Javed Hashmi’s statement, he said he would not comment on remarks of the disgruntled PTI leader, but said Imran Khan attempted to drag army and judiciary into politics which is a heinous crime.

It may be mentioned that the joint sitting of the Parliament began today and will continue for a week to discuss prevailing political situation in the country.

Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq and Chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari are jointly presiding over the session.

President Mamnoon Hussain had summoned the joint session of the parliament on the advice of PM Nawaz Sharif who is also present in the session today.
