Afridi to lead T-20 team till 2016
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Shahid Afridi as the captain of the Pakistan T-20 team till 2016 while Misbah ul Haq will lead the ODI team in the 2015 World Cup.

Chairman PCB Shaharar Khan has said the captains for both the formats have been appointed after consultations with all concerned.

Shahid Afridi has not only captained Pakistan in the T-20s but all formats previously. He has played 381 ODIs and 74 T-20 internationals for Pakistan. He also lead Pakistan to the semi finals of the 2011 World Cup and was a key player when Pakistan won the T-20 World Cup in 2009.

Shahid Afridi with his experience and an aggressive approach to the game seems to be the most appropriate for the job at the moment.

However, the star all-rounder popularly known as ‘Boom Boom’ has been the least successful of Pakistan’s six T20 captains. Under his leadership the team won eight and lost eleven matches.

Wishing both the captains best of luck the chairman said that the team for Tests, ODIs and T-20s will be announced soon.
