Sharjeel admits Karachi law, order in worst shape
KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon on Thursday admitted that law and orders situation was extremely bad in Karachi.

Talking to newsmen here, Mr. Memon said that extortion, target killings and other crimes have reached their peak in the city and it’s the responsibility of the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to protect the public.

Sharjeel Memon further said although five anti-terrorism courts were set up during the ongoing targeted crackdown against the criminal elements in Karachi, yet it produced no results. He linked the success of targeted operation to the functionality of courts.

However, he said the targeted operation in Karachi is becoming successful, saying the operation was underway in Lyari area at fastest pace. “Police personnel are laying down sacrifices of their lives to protect citizens,” he added.

In this connection, Sharjeel Memon, recommended implementation of Protection of Pakistan Ordinance.
