Attack on SSP Farooq Awan: Two foreigners arrested

KARACHI: Police on Tuesday arrested two foreigners in connection with the attack on SSP Farooq Awan.

The arrests took place in the Manghopir area of the city and the foreigners are said to be affiliated with a banned organisation. According to CID police, the car used in the attack on SSP Awan was prepared by these foreigners.

The suspects had earlier been arrested for possession of explosive material.

On September 25, two people were killed and seven including SSP Awan injured when a vehicle packed with explosives was detonated in DHA Phase-IV. The target of the blast was the convoy of Farooq Awan, who heads the special investigative unit (SIU) in the police force.
