NA Speaker dismisses PM disqualification reference

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker, Ayaz Sadiq has dismissed a reference pertaining to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification.

The reference was sent by Azhar Siddique to the NA Speaker on September 25. According to the reference the prime minister should be disqualified under Article 63 of the constitution.

Sadiq said the prime minister was protected under the Constitution of Pakistan.

The National Assembly Speaker’s ruling over the reference has been challenged by Azhar Siddique in the Supreme Court.

Siddique said the reference was dismissed by the National Assembly Speaker without any investigation, adding that the prime minister had lied on the floor of the house and action should be taken against him.
