PEMRA suspends ARY’s license for 15 days
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) on Monday suspended ARY News' license for a period of 15 days and imposed a fine of Rs10 million for airing a derogatory programme against the judiciary.

According to PEMRA officials, they reviewed the talk shows anchored by Mubasher Lucman on the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC) and found them in contravention with section 20 of the PEMRA act as well as its Code of Conduct.

PEMRA has also banned ARY anchorperson Mubasher Lucman from hosting any TV program.

PEMRA officials added that Mubasher Lucman and his programs were suspended in light of the LHC order.

It is pertinent to mention here that Justice Mazahir Naqvi had taken notice of grave allegations leveled against him, in a program hosted by Mubasher Lucman on ARY. Two days ago Justice Mazahir had banned Mubasher Lucman as well as his program.

The Judge had also directed PEMRA to take action against ARY.
