KARACHI: A suspicious person was arrested near Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters Nine Zero (90), Geo News reported.

The party sources said the man was making video of ‘90’ and its adjacent areas.

Arms were also recovered from the possession of the accused, who was later handed over to police.

Later, addressing a press conference MQM MPA Iftikhar Alam said, the suspicious man, an Uzbek national who doesn’t speak Urdu, was found while he was conducting reconnaissance of the lanes surrounding the party headquarters.

Alam added that upon being apprehended, the Uzbek man offered 100,000 US Dollars to secure his release, which the MPA said should be investigated by the authorities.

Iftikhar Alam told journalists that they found a mobile phone, a bag, cash, batteries and documents from the suspicious individual.

The MPA demanded that the security around the party headquarters be beefed up adding that if any untoward incident takes place the party will hold the government responsible.
