Nine killed in Quetta bus attack
QUETTA: At least nine people were killed in an attack on a bus in the Hazar Ganji area of Quetta on Thursday.

According to SP Sariab, Imran Qureshi, unknown gunmen opened fire on the bus when vegetable vendors were preparing to leave for Hazara Town. “Two gunmen opened fire on the minibus with automatic weapons,” Qureshi said.

Panic gripped the area following the attack and an investigation has been launched. Police officials said security is provided to vegetable vendors traveling from Hazar Ganji to Hazara Town but there was no security deployed today.

The Governor and Chief Minister of Balochistan have taken notice of the incident. Last year in a similar attack six people were killed and eight others injured.

The Hazara Democratic Party and Majlis-e-Wahdat-e Muslimeen have announced a strike in the city on Friday.
