HYDERABAD: Qari Hashim Ali, the suspect freed by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the murder case of American journalist Daniel Pearl has been detained for 90 days under the MPO.

According to Jail Superintendent Hyderabad, the acquitted suspect was detained under the directives of the Sindh Home Ministry.

The South Asian bureau chief at the Wall Street Journal, Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and killed in Karachi in 2002.

The mastermind of the murder Ahmed Omer Sheikh has been awarded the death sentence while life sentences have been handed to co-accused Salman Saqib, Fahad Naseem and Sheikh Adil.
