Toll in Tharparkar drought rises to 54
THARPARKAR: After two infants lost their lives at Civil Hospital in Mithi, the death toll of children in drought-hit Thar has risen to 54 in a month.

On the other hand, the international organizations have declared the children in Thar as extremely malnutritioned.

The death toll in Thar is constantly on the rise due to drought and famine and after two more children including a two-day-old infant died in the Civil Hospital today, the toll now stands at 54.

International organsiations including UNICEF and World Food Support Program along with Nutrition Program of Sindh government carried out the screening of 97,526 children in 1,300 villages of Thar.

According to their survey report, 16,541 children are suffering from malnutrition out of which 5,917 children are suffering from acute malnutrition.
