6.8-magnitude quake in eastern Indonesia, no tsunami warning
JAKARTA: A powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake rocked eastern Indonesia on Wednesday, the United States Geological Survey said, but no tsunami warning was issued.

The quake struck at a depth of 41 kilometres (25 miles) under the Molucca Sea, 161 kilometres northwest of the city of Kota Ternate, the USGS said.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no threat of a tsunami and local authorities did not issue an alert. The USGS originally put the magnitude at 7.0.
