Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan takes oath as new CEC
ISLAMABAD: Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan took oath as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) at Supreme Court in Islamabad on Saturday.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk administered the oath of office to Justice Raza while the ceremony was attended by senior judges and lawyers.

Sardar Raza Khan would continue serving as CEC for the next five years.

A 12-member Parliamentary Committee headed by Senator Malik M. Rafique Rajwana on Thursday had agreed on the name of Justice Sardar Raza Khan, Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan after consultation with all political parties.

Justice Raza on Friday had resigned as chief justice of the Federal Shariat Court after his appointment as CEC.
