‘Slain MQM worker was threatened by PPP leader’
KARACHI: Following a strike call to protest against alleged extra-judicial killing of MQM office-bearer Suhail Ahmed, party’s senior leader Qamar Mansoor on Wednesday claimed that Ahmed was threatened by a local PPP leader before his ‘enforced disappearance’.

Speaking at a press conference at MQM headquarters Nine-Zero here, he claimed that the Society unit incharge was arrested by plain-clothed security officials on December 15.

Mansoor said that the government has been a mere spectator in the whole episode of atrocities being committed against the MQM. “Few police officials are running plain-clothed mobs in the city,” he said.

The MQM leader claimed that police officials had been demanding bribe from the family of Faraz Alam – an MQM worker killed under police custody in December.

He said that the party had asked the chief justice to form a judicial commission to probe extra-judicial killing of MQM activists.

In an apparent reference to AIG Ghullam Qadir Thebo’s claim that the alleged killer of Prof Sibte Jaffar and Dr Shakeel Auj belongs to MQM, he said that police regularly torture MQM activists and force detainees into issuing desired confessions.
