Fully committed for capacity-building of law enforcement agencies: COAS

LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Saturday said that the Pakistan Army has greatly improved its capacity of training and the scope of this would be extended to the whole nation.

The Army Chief was addressing the passing out parade at the Elite Police Training School in Lahore on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS said that the Pakistan Army is fully committed to enhance the capacity of all the law enforcement agencies in the country.

The ISPR in a press release said that according to the National Action Plan (NAP) the process of competence-building of the police is ongoing. It went on to say that first batch of the Elite Police Force in Lahore has passed out and the training was carried out by officers of the Special Services Group (SSG).

COAS General Raheel Sharif, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Acting Governor Punjab Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Commander Lahore Corp Lt. General Naveed Zaman and diplomats of different countries also attended the ceremony.

The first batch of the Elite Police Force comprising a total of 421 corporals including 16 females successfully passed out on Saturday after completing their nine month long training course. Around 1182 corporals are being trained by the master trainers of the SSG and Turkish Police Force.
