Military leadership reviews internal, external security situation
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s top military leadership reviewed prevalent internal and external security situation of the country including progress of ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb at the 180th Corps Commanders' Conference, held here at General Headquarters on Tuesday.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif chaired the Conference that dwelt at length on various professional matters.

The participants also under took a comprehensive review of operational preparedness besides prevalent internal and external security situation of the country including progress of ongoing operation Zarb-e- Azb.

The Pakistan Army had launched a major offensive against terrorist in the troubled northwestern tribal areas of the country bordering Afghanistan following a brazen militant attack at Karachi airport last year.

The military later intensified its operations against the militants of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) after a deadly attack on Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, 2014.

The government also formulated an emergency National Action Plan (NAP) including formation of military courts to hear terrorism related cases following the militant attacks.
