Farmers protest ends in Lahore as talks prove fruitful
LAHORE: The protest of farmers ended in Lahore Thursday night after what is being termed as successful talks with Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Hamza Shahbaz.

Later, former Punjab law minister and PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah addressed the protesting farmers who then dispersed and headed back to various parts of Punjab from where they had come.

The end of the protest saw the commuters take a sigh of relief as they remained stuck in traffic jams for a long time as Multan road had been blocked by protesters since Wednesday.

The protesters demanded of the government to re-fix the support price of sugarcane, allow subsidy on electricity tariff and make payments to the sugarcane growers against their dues.

Heavy contingents of police also remained stationed around the protesting crowd on Multan road to cope with any contingency.

Those who suffered the most due to the protest were the commuters of Multan road.

Rana Sanaullah not only assured the demonstrators of meeting their demands on behalf of the government but also announced the good news of withdrawal of cases against the farmers.

Convinced, the farmers dispersed and headed towards their destinations all across Punjab.
