Young doctors protest in different parts of Lahore

LAHORE: Members of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) held protest demonstrations in favour of their demands on Tuesday, blocking four main roads and disrupting traffic for several hours in Lahore.

The doctors protested at main thoroughfares including Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road and Ferozpur Road.

Patients faced problems due to the unavailability of doctors in hospitals, while the blockage of traffic for several hours caused inconvenience to citizens.

The organisation of medical workers has been protesting against the Punjab government in recent months, demanding increase in salaries, improvement in service structure, and provision of fool-proof security at hospitals.

The YDA called off its protests at 1 pm, saying that it will announce its future course of action at a press conference on Monday.
