Court rejects model Ayyan’s appeal for bail
RAWALPINDI: A court in Rawalpindi has rejected the bail appeal of model Ayyan Ali, who is accused of attempting to smuggle $0.5 million on a commercial flight out of Pakistan.

Hearing the case on Tuesday at the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court, Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa rejected Ayyan's request to be released on bail.

Ayyan was arrested from the Islamabad Airport on March 14 and was accused of attempting to smuggle $0.5 million to Dubai.

Under Pakistani law, a passenger traveling abroad cannot carry more than USD10,000.

A money laundering case was filed against Ayyan and she was sent on judicial remand to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.

The celebrity had claimed she was unaware of Customs rules on the permitted amount to carry onboard a flight, but maintained that she had obtained the money lawfully after selling five of her properties.
